The ICC Champions Trophy is a prestigious one-day international knockout tournament introduced by the ICC in the year 1998 which is hosted by Bangladesh. The first couple of editions of the Champions Trophy were held in ICC Associate member nations to increase the popularity of the sport in these regions. Kenya hosted the tournament in 2000. The tournament was later known as the ICC Knockout Tournament, and from 2002 onwards, it was renamed the ICC Champions Trophy.
