YouTuber and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia aka BeerBiceps is facing heat after his crude remarks and jokes on Samay Raina’s show India’s Got Latent ignited a fiery debate on social media. The YouTuber has issued an apology for his crass comments and jokes after receiving massive backlash.
“I shouldn’t have said what I said on India’s Got Latent. I’m sorry,” he wrote in the caption for his apology video. The row erupted on social media after Allahbadia asked a contestant whether they would rather “watch their parents have sex for the rest of their life or join them once and put a stop to it”.
However, many on social media pointed out that the bizarre remark was not one that Allahbadia came up with and might be inspired by other YouTube shows that often use crass jokes and dark humour to create shock value and gain views.
Renowned singer B Praak, best known for hits like Teri Mitti, has publicly withdrawn from an upcoming appearance on BeerBiceps’ podcast following a wave of backlash against YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia. The controversy erupted after Ranveer, also known as BeerBiceps, attempted to match the dark humor of Samay Raina’s show, India’s Got Latent, but instead left audiences outraged with his distasteful remarks.
B Praak said, “I was about to go for a podcast on BeerBiceps and we canceled that because of the kind of pathetic thinking, and the kind of words used on Samay Raina’s show. This is not our Indian culture. What kind of things you are sharing about your parents, is this comedy? This is not at all comedy. This cannot be stand-up comedy. Teaching people curse words, I do not understand what generation is this. A Sardarji also comes on the show. Sardarji you know you are a Sikh, do these things look good? What kind of teachings are you giving? He even puts clips on his Instagram, saying – Yes I abuse, what is the problem in that? Well, we do have a problem with that.”
Furthermore Guwahati Police have registered an FIR against Samay Raina and all the judges on his show India’s Got Latent under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The FIR names Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, Apoorva Makhija, Ranveer Allahbadia, Samay Raina, and others, accusing them of promoting obscenity and engaging in sexually explicit discussions.
